Goncalo Alves, commonly known as "Tigerwood" is  a Central to South American wood whose range runs from Mexico to Brazil. Goncalo alves is prized for its high rot resistance and durability being used historically as a roofing and flooring wood.

Not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species its one of the more widely available exotic hardwoods in the U.S.
